Peaks and Troughs Challenge Itinerary
Friday 19th August 2016 The Rally will begin at 11am from the car park of the Marriott Broughton near Preston located on the A6 just off the M55. Vans and trailers can be left here for the duration of your stay.
It may be possible to check in prior to departure subject to rooms being ready. Today this route will take in approximately 80 -100 miles(TBC) in and around Forest of Bowland we have arranged a tea stop enroute. The rally will not be timed but route sheets will be handed out and there will be arrows at all major junctions to indicate the route. It will be necessary to sign on and off at the end. This route will involve riding along some of the prettiest roads in Lancashire. The evening will be free to enjoy the hotel and 3 course table d'hote meal will be served at 19.30.
The hotel is very well appointed and includes a full spa, fitness centre and large indoor pool.
Saturday 20th August 2016
Today we will be our "Peaks and Troughs Challenge" We will be sending bikes off at 8am in number order. Breakfast is served from 7am . You will be required to follow the route sheets only.
This route will cover approximately 300 miles taking in the Yorkshire Dale and The N Yorkshire Moors. Both of these two National Parks offer some of the most breath-taking scenery in our country AND the most enjoyable riding roads. We will arrange a tea stop in the morning and afternoon as well as Lunch, the cost of which is included in your rally fees. These three stops will also be check points where you will be required to sign off at.
Each check point will be staffed by marshalls who will be there to advise and help. Each rider will be given emergency numbers in case of break down . Our club will provide at least two recovery vehicles.
N.B. some of the locations you will be riding through will have no signal, in this case it may be necessary to flag down a fellow competitor to relay a message. Our main sponsor (The Bike Insurer) has also assured us that Smart phone apps will be available FOC which act as tracking devices. The final check point will be back at the hotel upon completion you will receive a commemorative award and a well-earned pint! Diner will be
severed as soon as you are ready. This evening we will have live entertainment in the hotel.
Sunday 21st August 2016 After a long day and possibly a long night... we will set off on our ride today at 10am from the car park. A pleasant ride through Lancashire into Cumbria. The full journey will include the main Peaks of the Lake District National Park such as Wrynose, Kirkstone and Hardknott Passes We again have arranged a lunch stop which is included in your Rally fees. The whole journey will be approximately 180 miles.
Upon return to the hotel we encourage owners to display their bikes together on the car park for everyone to enjoy prior to the evening meal which will be served again at 19.30.
Monday 22nd August 2016 Breakfast is served on our last morning. We sincerely hope you enjoy the routes and activities we have planned.
We as a club have tried to operate this event at the lowest possible rate however there may be a surplus. This surplus will be placed into the club account and at the end of the year we hand over surplus monies to our two chosen Charities: The Blood Bikers and The North West Air Ambulance.
